As usual, it’s been a very long, tiring, and full set of days. Too much has happened to write it all down.
Wednesday, someone did a DROP DATABASE on a production database that was in use. Fortunately, this wasn’t one of the insanely important databases. We still had to scramble for the backups and retrieve the stuff between backup and drop with mysqlbinlog. This took longer than it should’ve, but nobody had a dang cow about it—possibly because I’ve been through this particular rodeo before, and knew what to do to get it all back up.
However, Steve had to work, so Stephanie and I had Chinese food and Rock Band 3 with just the two of us. We tried to play and sing a bunch of songs on Hard. This worked out better than I expected, though we weren’t doing any of the really difficult songs.
Thursday was relatively quiet at work. I may have finally solved an annoying and stupid problem that’s been going on for a while, but I didn’t have enough time to really test it out, and I’ll be off tomorrow. This’ll be nice. It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve had a day off. Not sure what to do besides sleep in, but I’m sure I’ll think of something. . . .
Looong week. Still more stuff ahead. Don’t know how frequent updates will be. So, links in lieu of content:
Whoof. Tons of stuff happening at work, so much so that I really don’t want to write about it. I’m glad I have the day off tomorrow. I could sure use it. At least on Feb 16, we all had lunch at Bliss:Rebar with Chris and Alex, and that was kind of fun even though the food was pricy.
Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope you all had something more like these bunnies than like anything terrible or stupid. Stephanie and I exchanged small presents this morning. We decided to go out to dinner tomorrow instead of today, since everybody and their brother would be out today, and it’ll be a lot easier to get a table tomorrow.
Anyway. Work’s been alternately boring and depressing. I haven’t felt much like writing about life lately, which is why there have been few entries recently.
It’s been an annoying few days.
Wombats: They’re a lot cuter than you might think.
McBubble and Squeak, anyone? Didn’t think so.
Tuesday! Always a good day. Mostly. I solved a few problems in the morning, then got sidetracked by things like our entire floor not having any coffee anywhere. We finally found some, though.
Sunday: Not that much, really. I got some reading done and made dinner. Stephanie and I channel-flipped for a while and found an episode of “Criminal Minds”, which was actually better than I was expecting. I’m not sure if it’d be worth it to grab the earlier seasons of it on Netflix.
