Monday was relatively quiet, since a bunch of people took Columbus Day off. There were absolutely no hamsters in anyone’s coffee cups. I did find something that had been messed up for five days, but nobody had noticed it until then. Oops. Well, it was relatively easy to fix, at least.

My mouse is sporadically giving a double-click when I’ve only clicked the button once. This is pretty annoying. I’ve taken the mouse apart and cleaned it again, but it’s still happening every so often. Not sure what to try next.

I’m not sure where this came from or what it really means, but it’s just a tad out there.

Sunday had less stuff than Saturday. Stephanie made lunch for us; sandwiches, chicken soup, and deviled eggs. This is a lot more elaborate than what I usually get for lunch. I made dinner; chicken, pasta, and salad. This is not a very elaborate dinner, but it’s inexpensive, nutritious, and tasty.

The “Occupy Wall Street” protests have jumped to Europe, and a lot of people are a tad upset about that. What’s interesting is that there’s an “Occupy Phoenix” protest scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15. I’m really curious about these protests now, mostly because of the comments I’ve seen on the Net about them. One Farker said that Google, Yahoo, and Twitter were censoring stuff related to the protests. This is sort of difficult to verify, naturally. But all the talk on the Net about these things has made me want to attend the protest Saturday and see what the heck is really going on. If so many people are irritated, it might be worth paying attention to. Not sure if I can go there though.

Ever wanted to know how to disrupt an Internet forum? Follow this handy guide! Really, though, all the Net fora I’ve seen don’t need to be disrupted. The participants generally have the attention span of a retarded fruit fly, and will scatter off to whatever topic is newer and/or more interesting.

Anyway. Friday was mostly OK. A lot of people were out of the office, because they were taking vacation on Friday and/or Monday because of Columbus Day. We don’t actually get Columbus Day off, but people who work for the state government do.

Of course, the master database had a dang fit at about 1:15pm on Friday. Getting that fixed wasn’t really all that difficult. It took longer to call or IM everyone who’d been affected and tell them, “Yes, all the stuff is working now, could you please try it again?”

Saturday, Stephanie and I met Nacho and Luly at Claim Jumper for lunch. This was kind of neat. I got to hear all about the latest work hassles for Nacho, as well as talk about guns, trucks, and computers. I also took my home computer mouse apart (easier than I thought) and found that it was full of cat hair. sigh. Work called me while I was eating dinner, but this turned out to be a problem that we weren’t really responsible for. Yay for small favors!

Wednesday had reasonably normal work things. It also had no rock, since Steve said he had to work late. It also also had an exciting baseball game, where the Diamondbacks forced a game 5 with yet another grand slam. So that was kind of fun. Stephanie came over and watched the last half of the game.

Thursday, there were more work things and more complex work things. But that was OK too. A few people are taking some days off tomorrow and Monday, so we’ll be a bit short-handed. I hope it won’t cause a problem. No huge projects are planned, at least.

I also heard from Dan R. on Thursday. I hadn’t heard from him in years, so it was nice to find out he hadn’t been eaten by rabid badgers or something.

Tuesday, it was really dusty and somewhat windy in the morning. It got cloudy later, then after dinner, it started raining a bit. This was a good thing. Of course, it isn’t really raining enough, but we’ll take all the help we can get.

It was kind of a busy morning at work, but things got less busy as the day went on. Then there was a bit of a quandary as trivia was canceled. The baseball playoffs pre-empted trivia, and at first we couldn’t think of what to do (if anything). We ended up saying, “Forget it and go to trivia next week.”

In other news, it’s Mom’s birthday today, which is neat. Stephanie sent her a package, and I sent her a card, and they both got there yesterday. Yay for things mostly working right.

In other other news, the Diamondbacks are up by 7 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning. Yeah! Kirk Gibson’s team has said “Never, never, never give up!” all this year, and they’re still staying alive against the Brewers even though they’re down 2 games in the series. (Of course, the @#%$^%ing Yankees are beating the Tigers, but you can’t have everything. . . .)

Monday. Heck. This picture mostly sums it up, because we got a really, really vague request for some stuff at work. Apparently, some idealistic college students are trying to schedule a protest in Phoenix like the ones that are going on in NYC right now. I don’t know that they’ll be able to do anything useful or interesting—they seem long on vague generalities and short on actual political objectives. It’s unlikely that I’ll be able to even look at whatever they’re planning to do, since it’s on Oct. 15, and there are at least two things I’ll have taking up my time that day. I’ll be on call, and I think Nacho and Luly wanted to go to Haus Murphy’s then.

What else. . . not that much, actually.

Friday was relatively normal, though it was Bill’s last day. A bunch of Bill’s friends and co-workers all went out to lunch for an hour and a half. This was kind of fun, especially since Bill’s boss paid for everybody’s lunch with the corporate credit card. Let’s hope that Bill will do well in his next job.

Saturday was pretty slow and relaxing. The Diamondbacks lost the baseball game, though, which was sort of annoying. Anyway. We’ll see how the rest of it all goes.
