Well, heck. Wednesday brought a bunch of unwelcome news. Apparently, Steve’s going to be laid off soon. This cast a pall over the regular Rock Band 3 festivities, even though we had the usual Chinese food and rocked out to “Here I Go Again” by Whitesnake.
And after Steve left, I saw that Kari had posted “I got fired and every one of my deepest seated fears and angers enveloped me. Now I am in an ER bed, handcuffs recently released, being two-to-oned by two polite officers” on facebook. Good grief. So far, I don’t have a whole lot of info on what’s going on with her, but it doesn’t sound good. Sigh.
Things have been going slightly better than normal for me for the last 18 months. I know the universe doesn’t work that way, but I’d give up a lot of that unprecedented good stuff if it’d help Steve and/or Kari. I’ve had more experience with bad stuff than many of the people in my clade, and can deal with bad stuff better, so I’d rather deal with bad stuff than have my friends deal with bad stuff. Or something like that. But that’s not really possible, so I’m sort of stuck.
Thursday had reasonably normal work things, even though I was the only person from my team who was actually in the office. Also heard from Mike on Thursday. He said he was going to be attending the redistricting meeting, where a panel of people who are in charge of drawing the lines for the new congressional districts in Arizona respond to questions from the public. That sounds interesting, in the same way that watching a school of starving piranhas devouring a frog would be interesting.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI agree, Matt. Sometimes I just wish I could solve other people’s problems, or take their burdens from them, but it just doesn’t work that way. Sigh. I hope your friend and our friend have brighter days ahead.
I agree with Lynn and hope for the same thing.
