This is a serpent in a case at the MIM. The serpent was the original bass brass instrument, but it was inconvenient to play and hard to transport. Improvements in metalworking and instrument design by the 1800s made it so that the more convenient ophicleide, tuba (and later, the sousaphone) basically replaced the serpent.
Sunday didn’t really have that much going on, though I cleaned up a lot. Going to have a party at my house on Tuesday, which should be interesting. Still not sure how many people are coming, though I’ve got Steve, Stephanie, Zach, and Nathan saying yes. It should be fun regardless.
If the federal government defaults, are we all teh doomed? Maybe. Currently, I think that the Senate and House aren’t dumb enough to completely hork up the USA and/or world economy just to prove a political point. I Could Be Wrong.
