American Fried Rice, as seen in ThailandThis “American Fried Rice” dish is apparently a fast-food staple in Thailand, even though it bears no resemblance to anything Americans generally eat. Well, except for the fried chicken.

Friday wasn’t really interesting at all. Well, at work, some people wanted to redesign a rather important piece of code with no advance warning just a couple of days before that code has to get used in production. Also, if at all possible, we don’t like to change a bunch of stuff on a Friday. I told them that much. I don’t know; it might be a loooong Monday because of that.

Saturday, the big excitement was going to Zach and Sarah’s Halloween party. Costumes were required. I was a demonic jester (not a devil; devil costumes are harder to find around here than you might think), Stephanie was an angel, Zach, Sarah, and John were Raoul, Christine, and the Phantom from “Phantom of the Opera”, Jen was Tigger, Dave was . . . something extremely creepy that none of us could figure out, Patti and Spencer were chickens, Trevor was a hockey player, Michael was one of the guys from “Survivor”, and Kelli was Velma from Scooby-Doo. (Zach had gotten a blue collar for Thor, his Great Dane, but couldn’t find a diamond-shaped charm to hang on it.) So the costumes were fun, and we had burgers, brats, potato salad, and vegetables, while playing “Scene It 1980s”. There were so many things from the 1980s that I totally missed out on that I had a hard time figuring out a lot of the questions. Oh well.
