This car was in the parking lot of Trader Joe’s when I went there on Friday to get some groceries. Sometimes, you see classic cars out here, because the weather’s dry enough that not many of them have rusted out.
Saturday: Stephanie had a party at her house, and invited all the folks from trivia. The party worked out well. I made a lasagna, Stephanie made hot wings, and she ordered pizza (one veggie, one with dead animals). So there were huge amounts of food, and almost everyone showed up. Zach and Sarah were late, because they turned the wrong way on a street, but that was mostly OK. We all got to hear about Spencer’s adventures in the restaurant business. He had to close the place for 3 nights recently, and his stories about drunk idiots being stupid and/or urinating on things were horrifying but totally understandable. I guess the place he works at is close to ASU, so there are many drunk college students who show up there on the weekends. He also told us a story about an idiot who bit a hole in a large drink cup (cost: $0.27) and then walked out without paying for it. One of his co-workers followed the idiot to the bar next door and demanded $0.27. The bar’s bouncers were not happy about the idiot, and he eventually paid up.
Spencer said, “How can these people live in civilized society?” I tried to tell him that there are a bunch of people who are not interested in following rules and will only respond to threats of violence, but a bunch of people were talking at that point and I might not have been heard.
Kelli then told us a story about Dr. Dan and the “manager’s special” section of a farmer’s market. Apparently, Dan tried to cook lobster tails on a George Foreman grill, which is all kinds of wrong, but that paled in comparison to the dubious meatloaf that smelled like vinegar. At least nobody got food poisoning from all of this. We wanted Kelli to post the pictures of the lobster tails, but I don’t think she has yet.
Apparently, the lasagna I made was good, since most of it got eaten, and a bunch of people including Trevor said it was tasty. Trevor brought a bottle of Malbec wine, which I’d never had before, but it went well with lasagna.
After dinner, we loaded up Rock Band and started playing. We used Nathan’s hard disk, since he’s got hundreds of songs. (He’s said, “I am Harmonix’s bitch!” previously.) He’s going to be getting Rock Band 3 on Tuesday and “playing it until it physically hurts.” Now that’s dedication. I’m probably going to wait a bit, even if “Bohemian Rhapsody” is on the track list.
Anna here was out and about, wanting to be petted and seeing everyone. Patti said that Anna looked a lot like one of her cats. Anna likes people, at least. Pinto hid for most of the party, but he eventually came out and allowed Zach to pet him.
Everybody took off at about 9pm, because it was getting late and folks were tired. I helped clean up and then totally zonked out. Both Stephanie and I have a whole bunch of leftovers, which is a good thing.
A Farker’s trying to win a contest. Help her out by following this link! Flash video, no malware or stupidity AFAICT.
