ADSL cat is connecting, acquiring IP addressSaturday. Not that much to talk about, really. It’s really hot in Phoenix. I haven’t been doing that much.

I did run into some trouble with a badly documented wireless setup, though. They said “use ESSID ‘thing1′ and password ’1234567890′.” This was, of course, not correct. The thing that worked properly was to use a completely different ESSID and no encryption at all (whaaaat?). It took far too much time and bootling my laptop into Windoze to figure all that out, too. This was. . . not fun. However, I did find out that a poorly-behaving AP will perform almost twice as fast with a Linux client as it will with a Windows client. No idea why that is. The whole thing is working much better now, but it’s still slower than a good wired setup.
