Thursday, I saw a message on a technical mailing list which said, “So you’re using a single gigabat NIC here. . . .” I do not know how fast a gigabat NIC would transmit data. I think there would be absolutely no mosquitoes in the server room where one was installed, though.
Work was relatively quiet, and I think I’ve finally gotten rid of the last vestiges of stupid problems from Tuesday morning. Feels great. However, I’ve been on an H.P. Lovecraft kick recently, and my copy of At the Mountains of Madness is falling apart. It got water-damaged about 14 years ago in Sarlaac House, and that combined with the dryness here has taken a toll on the binding. Oh well. At least it didn’t get swallowed up by a rugose, squamous, polypous Elder Thing from beyond angled space where the thin flutes pipe mindlessly.
Teh Nacho said, “I don’t think my neighbors are intelligent enough to find a window to pee out of” a few days ago, when it was raining a lot on the west side of town. That was much funnier than it had any right to be.
