Alternative forms of soccer, like the one pictured, never really took off. I can’t imagine why. Tuesday, the big thing was dealing with someone who decided that it’d be a great idea to run DROP DATABASE on a production server. We had backups, of course, but dealing with that particular bit of dumb cost 2 [...]

There’s not much demand for Twinkie sushi, though it might work as a dessert. Are there any Iron Chefs up to the challenge? Monday had the usual number of work things in it, and not that much else. I got handed a problem early on that I should’ve known how to solve immediately, but I [...]

Here we see Teh Nacho at the rifle range, wearing his tactical vest and carrying a Romanian AK-47. “Crazy” is not the word I’d use to describe the guy, though. Hm. Lazy Sunday. I finished reading Moby-Dick, talked on the phone with a bunch of people, cooked dinner, and watched the Cardinals get their butts [...]

Saturday started off with an ARGH. At some point when I was in the shower, work called with a helpdesk ticket. Of course, I didn’t hear the phone going off until I was finished with the shower. Then right after I had logged in to work to figure out what had gone wrong, the ticket [...]

This piece of art was called something like “A society which refuses to acknowledge the soul is in a great deal of trouble”. I can’t remember the exact title because it was really long. But the art looked neat. Friday morning, I sat down to eat breakfast and found out that I had no Net [...]

Check the work your data entry operators are doing. Otherwise, you can get things like this happening. I’m sure they meant “$265,000″ or something like that. Either that or the house is in foreclosure, has been stripped, and is in the middle of the ghetto. Thursday wasn’t all that exciting. Fixed some stuff, saw a [...]

Humpback whales engaging in “bubble-net feeding”. This is where the whales blow bubbles under and around a school of small fish, then while the fish are confused by the bubbles, the whales eat them. The sperm whale doesn’t do anything like this, since it feeds mostly on giant squid. The bit of Moby-Dick that stuck [...]

Tuesday, I ate at the cafeteria instead of packing a lunch. The turkey sandwich didn’t try to attack me, which was probably a very good thing. Trivia: Kelli and John showed up, though Nathan was late. We were “Fibber’s doesn’t care about Black Irish”, since just about everyone else had a team name that related [...]

Biff faces challenges like a samurai. A katana is just not the right tool for most things in this modern world, though. Apparently, there was a major kerfluffle late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Parts of the website stopped working, and Sherry, who was on call, got paged. They got it fixed, but it [...]

Saturday: relatively busy, or at least it seemed like it because of the way the day was structured. Everything happened after 4pm. The plan was for us all to get together at Nathan’s for Rock Band: Beatles, then get dinner, then go to Fibber’s to see if any of us won the trip to Ireland. [...]
