I don’t think this would go over very well at all.
Not a whole lot to say about Monday. A few things weren’t working right when I got in, but those were easy to fix. I checked and found out that all of my library books are due on Saturday, which is not great as I’ve got a gigantic book about Nazi Germany that I’ve barely started. Well, I’m almost done with Caldé of the Long Sun, which is good. I still don’t know whether to recommend it or not, though the unreliable narrator becomes more reliable towards the end. The people of the city also finally get their act together and say, “We should end this stupid war and have Silk be President of this city!” Then, of course, they get attacked by forces from another city.
I keep expecting Wolfe to try and pull a fast one on the reader, as he seems to love doing. In The Book of the New Sun, the protagonist Severian does not always tell the truth to the reader, and he forgets things. Something similar but different is probably going on in this series, though it’s pretty hard for me to figure out what it could be right now. (I’ll probably have to look it up on PickyWeedia once I’ve finished the series. . . .)
