There are all kinds of things that are wrong with this picture. Mushy peas are not a main dish, for instance.
Sunday wasn’t all that interesting. I don’t know what I’ll find when I get to work on Monday, but at least I’ll only have to work 4 days this week.

Fairly popular, if a bit old-fashioned, but not as a main dish – it’d be a side to something like a pie.
I’m British, and I’ve obviously been to British McDonalds quite a few times. They’re pretty much like US McDonalds except everything is slightly smaller (as in, a Big Mac literally has a slightly smaller radius) and more expensive. The real equivalent of the menu above would be going to a greasy spoon :)
Yes, I should have noted that mushy peas are not generally a main dish. I believe they are often served with fish in the UK. Don’t know if British MacDonalds have beer, but the ones in Germany do.
McDonald’s often adapts its menu to local cuisine. The “Raja Mac” in Indian McDonald’s has 2 all-lamb patties instead of all-beef patties, for instance. They were experimenting with pizza in Canadian McDonald’s, but I don’t think anything ever came of it. Too bad, I think McPoutine would’ve been very interesting, and probably even less healthy than most of their entrees.
Yes, I expect McPoutine would have been very interesting indeed. I don’t know if you remember the McRib. Hideous sandwich, and they kept bringing it back. It was like Jack Nicholson in the Shining, it kept reappearing.
The McRib had (has?) a lot of fans. Chopped, formed pig meat in sweetish ersatz barbecue sauce appeals to a segment of the population for some reason. It’s not my thing, but they didn’t ask me.
No, but perhaps they should have. :-) Your Dad hated it.
I don’t think I ever got to try a McRib – all I ever saw about it was the Simpsons episode where Krusty comes out with a McRib-alike. I suppose it could be good in that so-bad-it’s-good way fast food sometimes is.
Oh, and British McDonalds don’t serve beer; Norwegian ones do, however, but only alcohol-free. I wonder if differing national license laws play a role.
Matt’s Dad said that the McRib was mushy and it was weird that something shaped like ribs didn’t have any bones in it. Plus I think the sauce was really sweet.
Anyway, you may be right about a country’s licensing laws determining whether or not beer can be served at local fast-food restaurants. I know Sid was surprised to see the beer in the German McDonald’s.
In Germany, you can get beer *EVERYWHERE*. So it’s not that surprising McDonald’s would have it. For “so bad it’s good” fast food, we have Filiberto’s. Rumor has it that they take entire chickens and grind them up in a huge blender for their chicken dishes. Also, eating most of their food is said to guarantee intestinal problems later. But I’ve never eaten there.
I would say that might be a place to lie down and avoid, if you remember your Monty Python, although I believe they were dissing Australian wine.
