Not that much exciting at work, though we went out to lunch on Wednesday. Lots of people are going to be gone on Friday. Did the usual Wednesday night get-together with Steve, and learned that he’s going to New York for a month. Also found out that the Rock Band 2 disc is damaged in [...]

Wombats. In hats. That is all. Trivia: We were Patty-less, since she’s in Ohio for work. We persevered, though a bunch of us left early and only Zach, Sarah, and Nathan were there for the final round. At least we ended up winning last week. Everybody seemed to be happy that “Chuck” was being renewed [...]

Here we see a caterpillar on a plant, while a rare dogapillar walks nearby. Not that much is happening besides normal work things. They’ve closed the eastbound I-10 exit to Mill Ave, which (again) adds about 7 minutes to my work->home commute. Bleah. Well, it’s Tuesday tomorrow, which is always good.

Fuzzball, with PAWS OUT. She has been meowing up a storm for the last few days. Loading the truck at Alex’s worked pretty well. Everything was in boxes, and the furniture wasn’t really terrible. The heaviest thing was the sideboard (buffet, thing you put food on when you’re having a bunch of people over for [...]

It was hot enough on Saturday that I didn’t do a whole lot. Not that longĀ after this entry posts, I’ll be going over to Alex’s to help him and his family load up a large moving truck. I hope it won’t be like the last time I helped a friend move—then, John didn’t have [...]

Caturday, and the cat wants to sit on the keyboard. Fuzzball tried to sit on the keyboard when I first got her, but she learned not to after about the tenth time I picked her up and told her, “No!” Not much happened Friday at work, which is probably a good thing. There was some [...]

Always make sure the team you send out on an operation has some balance. Been reading I’m not a Racist, But. . ., one academic’s attempt to make sense of the way racism is used and viewed in American society. One thing the author says that I can agree with is that the word “racism” [...]

Arrrrrgh. I got a bug report right before leaving work on Wednesday. It was legit, but I couldn’t find it and fix it in the small window of time I have on Wednesday night. I called Steve and canceled the usual get-together. Then I got dinner and tried to fix the problem—which was actually fairly [...]

More munitions should have things like this written on them. Soldiers during the first Iraq war wrote “My other bomb is atomic” and “If you can read this, you’re dead” on some air-dropped ordnance, but there wasn’t much deliberate silliness. The warships in Iain M. Banks’s Culture novels have names like Fine ’til You Came [...]

I saw that work is offering discounted baseball tickets to a few baseball games. The D-backs are playing the Braves on May 31, so I got a ticket to that game. It should be interesting, though the D-backs are not so good this year. What else. . . when I was leaving work, the bus [...]
