Went to the library on Saturday and got some more books. Nightside the Long Sun has a lot of interesting stuff in its last quarter, so I hope the rest of the series continues like that. Also got a book that explains what the Pentagon and the State Department would like to do [...]

Caturday, and the cats are obviously displeased about something.
Reasonably normal Friday, mostly. We all went out for lunch, sat in front near the windows and front door, and a pigeon wandered into the building. It scurried around under our table for a couple of minutes until the staff chased it outside again.
And then, while I [...]

Couch Penguins of the world, unite! Even if you’re sitting around watching the baseball game, there is important work to be done on society and culture!
Been reading Gene Wolfe’s Nightside the Long Sun recently. It’s similar in tone and execution to his earlier 4-book Book of the New Sun series, though it’s slower-paced [...]

Yesterday was just an ordinary day in the web world. Well, except for the stuff related to search engines, JavaScript, and how not to use them in combination.
Got a phone call from Marcus late in the day. If I’d known he had couch space available, I wouldn’t have gotten that hotel room, but [...]

A bunch of people are on vacation or furlough this week, so there’s less going on at work than usual.
Trivia: All the usual suspects were there, and we were still in the game when I left. Spencer’s clandestine art project is going well. The [...]

I’ve put most of my old personal site in new [...]

It’s Memorial Day. So it’s time to thank all the soldiers, Marines, and sailors out there who are putting their lives on the line so that we can post snarky comments on the InterWeb without fear of getting shot.
In less relevant news, the library search page is up and running. It will be improved [...]

Mechanic kitty is on duty, finding out what needs to be fixed. That’ll be $89.95 and a can of tuna.
Pretty lazy Saturday—not that much going on here.

Caturday, and the two-headed kitties are not all that impressed.
There were a reasonable number of minor work things going on on Friday, but at least the traffic was light. I also finished reading Raising the Stones, which had an OK ending. I don’t agree with all the conclusions Tepper draws in the book, [...]

Went to give blood on Thursday. They’re now apparently asking people to give blood three times a year, which is odd because you can give blood every 2 months. Ah well, did it without any problems.
It rained on Thursday night, which was kind of nice. Also, this weapons project is probably cooler than most [...]
