Artificially intelligent “assistants” are probably not ready for prime time, as shown. The people at the Cyc project are trying to reproduce something like “common sense” through a huge number of rules. I don’t know whether they can succeed in this or not, but it’s interesting to see them try.

At work on Tuesday, we had a problem that could be characterized as “Programmer has had insufficient coffee”. Fortunately, we were able to find it and fix it before anything really bad happened.

Trivia: was going pretty well when I left.  Apparently, on Saturday, we’re having a “TV Lifting Party” at Nathan’s to get his new, large, and heavy CRT TV into its permanent resting place.  I don’t know.  A 33″ CRT TV required 2 people to move.  A 37″ CRT TV should only require 3, not all of us, but I guess it’s the principle of the thing.
