Fuzzball is so terribly oppressed.

Someone running for legislative office here in AZ has campaign posters up that say “Will strengthen families” and “Will promote civility in politics”. OK, how is legislation supposed to strengthen families? I don’t see how any law that a reasonable legislature would pass would help most of the family problems that I’ve observed. Is that phrase some sort of code for “Will oppose any law allowing gay marriage, because the queers are in it with the aliens! They’re building landing strips for gay Martians!? As for promoting civility in politics, good luck with that. Modern political discourse seems like it involves yelling loudly, digging up dirt on opponents, and attacking everything that the easily-swayed portion of the electorate thinks is questionable.

On a slightly funnier note, someone with the last name of Schmuck is running for the Chandler city council. Everyone always suspects politicians of being schmucks. Now Chandler can have a real Schmuck in office.

Currently reading Racist America, by some sociologist. It’s interesting in that I’ve never seen such a collection of “OMG teh evil white people!!1!” screeds outside of some trolls on various political places on the Net. (Longer-than-usual entry, hit the More button below for the rest.)
