A heron in flight from Michigan. Not much to report. Mailed a recruiter about the job I asked about last week, he said, “Oh yeah, they’re understaffed and can’t respond as fast as anybody’d like, give them until Tuesday.” Waiting on other people… how fun. And someone called my cellphone at 6am, then hung up [...]

More old raytracing pictures. The source files for this one were accidentally deleted, I had no backups of those source files, and I never had the desire to rebuild them. This is annoying since I think the spaceship on the left turned out pretty well and I could’ve improved on it. One of the jobs [...]

A helix from a long time ago, when I was playing around with POVRay quite a bit. The example images in that link show some amazing talent. It’s really neat what you can do with ray tracing when you have time and some real artistic skill. I’m still a bit annoyed about losing a couple [...]

A sign like this, complete with bad pseudo German, ought to be in every machine room. Apparently, there’s a job fair on the 25th. It’s way the heck out in Glendale, but it might be worth going to. Applied to more jobs yesterday, including a place that rents portable steel storage containers. Hey, they need [...]

A picture of Fuzzball from her recent trip to the vet. So yesterday, as I was getting ready to take a shower, I found a 1.5″ long roach sitting near the drain. “@#$%”, I thought. I grabbed one of my boots and used it to smash the roach. Roach was still moving. I bashed the [...]

An abstract drawing I did a long time ago. I don’t have that many more drawings that are worthy of publishing. So I have some programming junk I’d like to get done. SDL will work great for the graphics portion of it, since it’s fast, simple, and contains everything I need to composite images that [...]

Julius Caesar represent! OK, I liked Macbeth better, but it is March 15. Zach said earlier this week that there was a job doing something that I’m really not qualified to do available. However, he said yesterday that the job was actually more about doing stuff that I am qualified to do. So I’ll apply [...]

One of the small islands in the fjords near Ketchikan, Alaska. It’s beautiful, very far away from everything, and expensive to get there. I’m glad I got to go. Finally got ahold of the recruiter yesterday, talked with him for about 15 minutes, and sent off a slightly modified copy of my resumé. So now [...]

There’s always room for 100 pound semi- aquatic rodents. There’s not a whole lot to report on. It was really difficult to get the cat’s pain medicine into her this morning. Went out to dinner with Steve and Samantha and their kids last night. Also found that the expat problem has mostly been solved. Got [...]

So yesterday the vet sedated Fuzzball and did some X-rays of her mouth. He found no problems with the teeth (besides tartar buildup, removed with an ordinary dental cleaning). Her right fang has a small fracture at its tip, but there’s no damage to the root of the tooth. The real problem, he thinks, is [...]
