A picture of Fuzzball from her recent trip to the vet.

So yesterday, as I was getting ready to take a shower, I found a 1.5″ long roach sitting near the drain. “@#$%”, I thought. I grabbed one of my boots and used it to smash the roach. Roach was still moving. I bashed the roach twice more before it finally stopped moving. Tough little buggers. The noise woke Fuzzball up from her post-breakfast nap, so she came in meowing and wanting to know what the fuss was about. I showed her the dead roach and let her sniff it. She didn’t seem particularly impressed.

Something like this happened about 6 months ago. I woke up at 3 am and heard strange noises from the bathroom, like a cat batting at something and scrabbling around. I went back to sleep because I was tired. The next morning, I found a battered and thoroughly dead cricket in the middle of the bathroom floor. Cats love to hunt and kill small animals; if there are no mice or birds, they’ll take insects and scorpions.
